The tradition of sending the Valentine gifts was slowly replaced by mailing the cards with messages. In the 1700's and 1800's some shops sold books known as valentine writers. These all books had the ideas for writing valentines.

According to us the corporate Valentines were Ist made in the early 1800's. Kate Greenaway became the popular for her Valentines in the 1800's. The lady was a British artist, She used to show pictures of happy kids and lovely flower gardens.

In 1847, after seeing British Valentines, Greenaway made samples and took orders from shops. Later she hired all resources to produce the valentine cards. In here manufacturing unit, One man glued on paper flower, another added lace, and some do color painted. Howland rise her business into a $100,000 a year business.

The most famous Hallmark Company made its Ist Valentine in 1913. Hallmark offers about 1,330 variety of Valentine's Day greeting cards. And in Year 2000, Americans spent around more than $3.6 billion on Valentine's Day celebration. Yearly more than 900 million love cards will be exchanged. The St. Valentine's Day Festival is second only to Christmas for the number of cards sent. The New year and birthday cards are also very demanded and hot item for Hallmark.
