History of Valentine's Day and Lupercalia


Valentine's Day honors the very famous saints named Valentine. However, tradition for the holiday have nothing to do with lives of these saints. This customs is in hot list from the ancient Roman festival called Lupercalia, which happens on February 15. This unique festival honored Pan, the Roman god of nature, and ( The Juno), goddess of women and marriage. In the celebration of this festival young people drew names slips from a box and exchanged presents. Gradually the tradition of giving gifts was replaced by sending greeting cards. Now a days Valentine's Day, celebrated on the February 14, Its is a time to convey the love and affection to your dream partner. People send ecards, candy, or red rose flowers as valentine's day gift to their sweethearts, friends and family.
